Berkshire HorseWorks™ Inc., a 501(C)3, is part of the international EAGALA network of 4,500 certified professionals in 50 countries providing Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) and Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) to at-risk youth, veterans, active duty and families. Experiential, strength based, highly effective, and rooted in evidence-based practices, this modality of EAP treats a broad array of mental and behavioral challenges such as depression, PTSD, anxiety, ADHD, trauma, addiction, autism, sexual abuse, and anger management. Every session is facilitated by a licensed mental health professional and equine specialist certified in The Model.
Berkshire HorseWorks offers multiple programs including “Life Skills Development” and “Bully Prevention Program” for youth, “Girls Rule!” and “Sister Sense” focusing on leadership development and empowerment for women and adolescents, “Team Effectiveness” for families and groups of all kinds, and “Horse Powered Veterans” to help with resiliency and reintegration back into society.
This is not a riding or horsemanship program: all legs are on the ground, human and horse side by side, ready to learn. The emphasis is on non-mounted activities which incorporate horses and require individuals or groups to discover and apply certain skills.
Berkshire HorseWorks operates out of a bucolic 27 acre compound in Richmond, MA, comprising the Berkshire Equestrian Center, hiking trails, outdoor paddocks, historic barns, state of the art jumping facilities, a quaint Select Registry Inn, and a wellness center.
Located right off of Route 41 in Richmond, when headed south we are on the right hand side, 5 minutes from Route 20 in Pittsfield.
